Birch Bay is an idyllic setting for non-stop summer fun or peaceful winter solitude.    Through crisp fall air or fresh spring rain, the ever-changing views out over the Strait of Georgia delight visitors and year-round residents alike.

For beachcombers, low tide in summer exposes hundreds of acres of sandbars and tidepools – a vast playground for digging up shellfish, playing volleyball or Frisbee, creating sand sculptures, flying kites, walking, jogging, collecting shells or just soaking up the sun.

Birch Bay State Park offers 192 acres in which to play, including a mile-long stretch of driftwood-strewn beach.  It is a popular destination for bird watchers, having been designated an official “Audubon Sanctuary.”  Skilled bird watchers can identify up to 100 species there.

Golfers will appreciate the Resort at Semiahmoo, which boasts an 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed course that has been rated one of the best in the nation.   Closer to home, the Birch Bay Golf Club offers an 18-hole par three course.

Families with children will enjoy Birch Bay’s water park, which offers water slides and pools for all ages and courage levels!   Families will also enjoy walks and bike rides along Birch Bay Drive, the peaceful “main drag” through town.

Beautiful Mt. Baker ski area is less than 90 minutes away from Birch Bay.  Surrounded by wilderness area, national park and spectacular rugged mountains, the scenic setting of the ski area is uniquely beautiful.   With steep chutes, natural half-pipes, canyons and plenty of tree skiing, Mt. Baker provides ample challenge for even the most advanced skiers.

Hikers will be pleased to know that some of the most beautiful summer hiking trails in the U.S. are located just outside of the ski area in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

Bellingham, located just 20 minutes south of Birch Bay, is one of America's charming small cities.  Situated between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, Bellingham is the home of Western Washington University, cozy coffee shops and bookstores, and is the jumping-off point to Alaska, the San Juan Islands and Canada's Gulf Islands.

Vancouver, B.C., one of the world's great cities, is located just an hour north of Birch Bay.   In Vancouver you will find world-class entertainment, fantastic cuisine and some of the finest and most eclectic shopping around.
